Men, come for a free body composition measurement!

Friends For Life Day with its partners, is inviting men to have their body composition measured. Free body composition measurements will take place at the T1 Centre on 7 and 8 November from 11.00 to 16.00.

The measurement will take place in a private ‘Friends For Life Day’ booth. A healthcare professional will carry out the measurement and help explain the results.

Why measure body composition?

In addition to body weight, a body composition analysis provides an assessment of fat and muscle mass, water content, and the level of fat surrounding the internal organs in the abdominal cavity. The analysis also assesses energy expenditure during basal metabolism and the body’s metabolic age.

This information is useful both if you wish to understand your body better and if you are changing your diet or exercise habits. For example, fat and muscle mass can change even if your body weight remains more or less the same. One important indicator is the level of visceral fat, which surrounds the internal organs. Excessive amounts of this fat are linked to an increased risk of type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and cardiovascular disease.

The measurement results are estimates. A healthcare professional can help assess your personal health risk by considering these alongside other health indicators.

How is the measurement carried out?

The measurement is carried out in private in the ‘Friends For Life Day’ booth. The measurement is simple and painless. You can come for the measurement without any special preparation. To be measured, you must remove your shoes and socks and stand barefoot on the device, holding onto the handrails.

It is best if you have not eaten for about two hours before the measurement. This is a recommendation; having eaten recently will not prevent you from having the measurement taken. If you have eaten recently, please let the person conducting the test know, as this may affect the result.

You should reserve about 15 minutes. The measurement itself takes a few minutes, whilst explaining the results and providing initial advice takes about ten minutes.

Bring along a friend, your dad or your son, and come along to have your body composition measured! Longer Friendship Day — time for men to come together, celebrating our friendship, good health and the healthy years we add to life, together. Find out more at https://pikemsoprus.ee/en
